The cache would have been slower with extensions, and the old cache used to
result in a lot of false positives from virus scanners. Also, it’s a
security risk because simply viewing the cache folder could get you infected
because of the way Windows works. Now it’s safe that way.
So at least 3 reasons to remove the extensions.
