He has featured for the Villains once so far, in their 1-0 home loss to Leyton Orient in the Capital One Cup. Salomon Kalou is a Hertha Berlin player now after sealing a move to the German capital from French club Lille last weekend. Another member of our Champions League-winning squad, Florent Malouda, is without a club after cancelling his contract at Trabzonspor. The winger is currently training with LB Chateroux, the club where he began his career in France. Two other Frenchmen without a club are 37-year-old William Gallas, who has left Perth Glory in Australia after a short spell, and Nicolas Anelka, who had his contract at West Brom terminated earlier this year. There are however reports in India the striker has signed for Mumbai City ahead of the inaugural Indian Super League, which begins next month. Eidur Gudjohnsen is also a free agent and is currently training with FC Copenhagen as he looks for a new club. Having been released by Fulham, Damien Duff has moved to Melbourne City on a one-year deal. Wayne Bridge announced his retirement from the game after being released by Reading in May. Steve Sidwell also left relegated Fulham, to join Stoke City, while Khalid Boulahrouz moved back to his native Holland, joining Feyenoord in July having spent a year with Brondby in Denmark. Yossi Benayoun joined Maccaibi Haifa in June on a free transfer following his release by Queens Park Rangers. After three years in Germany with Hamburg, Michael Mancienne (pictured below) returned to England over the summer, signing for Nottingham Forest on a three-year deal. The defender has played an important role in Forest's strong start to the season. They currently top the Championship with five games played. Another man plying his trade in England's second tier this year is Jacob Mellis, who joined Blackpool after two seasons at Barnsley. Michael Woods earned a move up the footballing pyramid, signing for League Two Hartlepool in August after impressing on trial. He had been at Harrogate Town. Miroslav Stoch has joined Al Ain, a team based in Abu Dhabi, on loan from Fenerbache for 2014/15. Moving on to players that played for our Academy sides but not the first team (in competitive action), Gokhan Tore made his loan switch to Besiktas from Rubin Kuzan permanent, coming off the bench in both of the Turkish side's Champions League play-off games with Arsenal last month (pictured below). Frank Nouble has moved to Coventry City from Ipswich Town until the new year. The striker scored the only goal in Coventry's 1-0 win over Gillingham on Friday in the first game at the Ricoh Arena in 14 months. Tom Taiwo joined Scottish Championship side Falkirk in July from Hibernian. A man moving away from Scotland over the summer was Ben Gordon, who has signed a two-year contract with Colchester United having spent time north of the border at Ross County. Billy Knott made an early impression having moved to Bradford from Sunderland, netting a good goal in their derby victory over Leeds in the Capital One Cup. Danny Hollands will also be playing at League Two level this season, joining Portsmouth on a permanent basis over the summer having been on a short-term contract at the end of 2013/14 season. Following his release from Newport County at the end of last season, Harry Worley signed for Stevenage Borough ahead of the 2014/15 campaign. Carl Magnay will be playing Conference football again this season but for Grimsby Town and not Gateshead following his move down the north-east coast over the summer. Amin Affane has left Energie Cottbus to join Wolfsburg II in Germany's second tier. On the management front, Claudio Ranieri took charge of Greece for the first time last night (pictured right) after leaving Monaco in May, but his evening ended in disappointment as they lost 1-0 to Romania in Athens. == The Chelsea week ahead == International football still dominates the early part of this week but players will gradually be returning to training in the coming days. John Mikel Obi and Mohamed Salah are the last players set to represent their country this week, with their respective African Cup of Nations qualifiers taking place on Wednesday. After a fortnight without a match the Blues are back in action on Saturday afternoon when we host Swansea City at Stamford Bridge. Kick-off is at 3pm. Jose Mourinho will be talking to the press as usual on Friday and you'll be able to follow what he says on this website, on Chelsea TV and on our @chelseafc Twitter page.
