Abreu was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with tendinitis in his left ankle, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Spin:ꀊThe slugging first baseman had been nursing some left ankle soreness for the last couple of days and was set to sit out Sunday, but there was no sort of suggestion that a DL stint was in the works. The White Sox are officially characterizing the injury as posterior tibia tendinitis, with a timetable for his return not yet announced.ꀊ
