Jeremy Lin, Los Angeles Lakers Need Linsanity Part Deux

When Jeremy Lin was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer, he quickly
distanced himself from the “Linsanity” phenomenon. Lakers fans thought they
had finally found their point guard.

So far Lin has not had the impact Lakers fans had hoped for. The fourth year
guard out of Harvard still has not found his place in the offense. Lin is
averaging 11.8 points and 5.1 assists in 19 games this season. The Lakers are
in the cellar with a 5-14 record.

當Lin被交易到湖人時，他迅速把自己和Linsanity現象撇清，湖人球迷也認為他們終於

Lin is more than capable of putting up better numbers than what he is
displaying this season. We’re just three years removed from “Linsanity,”
 when Lin averaged 14.6 points and 6.2 assists for the New York Knicks. Lin
electrified Madison Square Garden with his performances. Why not bring back
some of that magic to Hollywood?

The Lakers can use some “Linsanity” this season. Lin possesses the quality
and skill to energize the club. Statistically, Lin was shooting a career best
47 percent from the field before Wednesday’s loss to the Washington Wizards.
Lin went 0-10 dropping his average to 44 percent as the Lakers fell 111-95.
Lin has had 10-plus field goal attempts in nine games. In six of those games,
Lin shot over 45 percent. Lin has been improving game by game.

The Lakers have lost a few close games this year. Kobe Bryant told reporters,
“We’re not a 3-11 team.” I completely agree. Lin needs to take control of
the team to take the pressure off of 36-year-old Bryant. Last season, Lin
shot nearly 60 percent off drives, second only to LeBron James. A
dribble-penetrator like Lin can be dangerous to the opposition. Lin is
effective when he drives to the basket.

Lin has Bryant and Nick Young on the wings at his disposal when he drives to
the basket. A much improved Jordan Hill and Carlos Boozer are available for
pick-and-pop plays. Los Angeles is ready for Lin to break out and take a
leadership role on this team. History is on Lin’s side as point guards under
Coach Byron Scott have flourished (Chris Paul and Jason Kidd).

The Steve Nash experiment failed miserably and Lin’s name has been called.
Lin is getting a fresh start in Los Angeles and a grand opportunity to help
this team improve.

Lin’s contract expires at the end of the year. This is Lin’s shot to prove
to the NBA that “Linsanity” was not just a fad.
