Does Africa Also Snows?
The tallest and the most famous mountain in Africa, Mountain Kilimanjaro,
rises high and erect on Tanzania Champaign. The Mountain stands at an latitude
of 5895 meters. There are almost no other mountain around Tanzania Champaign
attain to the height and mystery of Kilimanjaro Mountain besides Mountain
Kilimanjaro.
An eruption two millions years ago formed Mountain Kilimanjaro. When people
stand on the surface of the earth overlooking the mountain, they feel the
mountain top looks just like a conical appearance covered with snow. But
actually the highest peak of the mountains, Peak Gibo, is a kind of concave

terrain shaped by other peaks.
Because the latitude of Kilimanjaro is so high, there are great changes in
climate. When the wind from Indian Ocean arrived at these high mountains, rain
and snow fall. That's why the residents over there call it "Kilimanjaro",
which means "the shining mountains." Beside, because the mountains stop the
airflow, the nearby grasslands are able to keep enough rainfall to grow many
kinds of vegetation.
