Romania name foreign-based players for Euro ties
BUCHAREST, May 18 (Reuters) - Romania coach Victor Piturca has called
up 11 overseas players for next month's two Euro 2008 Group G qualifiers
against Slovenia, the Romanian federation said on Friday.
Piturca will add home-based players next week for the matches away on
June 2 and at home four days later.
Romania are second in the group with 11 points, three less than the
Netherlands although with a match in hand. Slovenia lie fifth with
four points.
Squad (foreign-based players only):
Defenders: Cosmin Contra (Getafe), Gabriel Tamas (Celta Vigo),
Cristian Chivu (AS Roma), Razvan Rat (Shakhtar Donetsk)
Midfielders: Paul Codrea (AC Siena), Florentin Petre (CSKA Sofia),
Laurentiu Rosu (Recreativo Huelva), Razvan Cocis
(Lokomotiv Moscow)
Forwards: Ciprian Marica (Shakhtar Donetsk), Adrian Mutu (Fiorentina),
Daniel Niculae (AJ Auxerre).
