'Associate members are not Oxford University students and do not take up
student places. They do not receive teaching and do not gain an Oxford
qualification. All this is made clear upfront.'

牛津大學對於廣義校友有分兩種，full跟associate。

前者為正式學生，毫無疑問有正式的校友資格。
後者包含一些去進修推廣部修課的、訪問學生等等。
這篇新聞描述的群體屬於後者。

我想一般人通常不會覺得：去某某學校當交換(訪問)學生的人，
或是去該學校的進修推廣部修課的人，就可以稱作［某某校的學生］。
這篇新聞的標題，容易誤導閱讀者以為那些人是正式學生。

There are two levels of alumni affiliation – full and associate. Your
affiliation will determine whether or not you are eligible for an Oxford

Alumni status

  Matriculated undergraduate and postgraduate students (awarded automatically
  upon expiry of the University card).

Associate Status
