Education Minimum Requirement:
PhD in Computational Biology/Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Pharmaceutical
Sciences or related field with 0-2 years relevant experience or a Bachelor's
Degree or Masters with 5 years’ relevant experience

Required Experience and Skills:
Ability to grasp complex problems and deliver creative, practical solutions.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work
well in a geographically diverse setting, and to balance scientific and
business needs.
Ability to work in a team of multidisciplinary scientists and IT personnel,
and operate effectively in a matrix environment; team player yet able to work
independently with minimal direction.
Experience with data analysis, esp. involving large complex data sets.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience including a combination of scripting, programming, machine
learning, database design, and statistical analysis, as well as familiarity
with cluster and cloud-based computing environments.
Strong background in molecular biology and genetics, esp. as related to
disease and drug development.

Each member of the TMI team serves as a vital bridge between diverse research
groups in MRL and the MSD IT organization. We provide direct support and
technical assistance to our partner groups, and we also coordinate the
development and provision of IT solutions for those groups, including
licensed software as well as tools developed internally or acquired through
external partnerships. The successful candidate will serve the research
organization by directly implementing solutions, as well as by identifying,
evaluating, and executing on external investments, including both academic
collaborations and commercial partnerships.

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:
Partner with groups in MRL Translational Medicine to deliver solutions for
their analytics, informatics, and IT needs.
Maintain cutting-edge expertise in multiple fields of science and technology
related to -omics, biomarkers, and computational biology/chemistry.
Work with software engineers within the larger global IT organization to
prioritize and implement solutions to research needs.
Communicate effectively across the research and informatics organizations.

The Translational Medicine Informatics (TMI) group works closely with
scientists in MSD Research Labs (MRL) to develop novel therapies grounded in
human genetics, including the identification of new therapeutic targets and
the development of clinical genomic biomarkers. The TMI group seeks to
augment its US-based team with translational medicine informatics experts in
Singapore. Specifically we seek to build a team that can assist with: 1)
implementation and assessment of computational biology/chemistry predictive
modeling methods, 2) integration and analysis of data from diverse sources to
identify and strengthen associations between biological targets, diseases,
and therapeutic interventions, 3) direct scientific analytics and modeling
support of translational medicine research activities at the Singapore site
and partner sites.

  備註:

雖然說加入生科, 一生科科. 不過有志於此的還是有很多選擇.

1. 目前所缺人力一員.

2. 雖然官方 JD 是這樣寫, 但目前比較偏向找俱有多方面生物資訊背景, 包括生物資訊資
   料庫/生醫影像處理的程式設計高手.

3. 有發起生醫資訊或生醫影像相關開源專案經驗者優先考慮.

4. 目前安排給此職位的計劃是跟 Target/Pathway 有關. 所以有相關經驗者可以考慮.

5. 職等/抬頭依獲選者條件安排.

6. 有興趣的人動作最好快一點. 競爭者眾. 可以先依 taleo 網站將資料寫好後, 再把CV
   私信給我 (我信箱才200封 quota..請問有沒有更好的方法?). 我儘量幫助大家, 讓負
   責任者可以看到 CV.

7. taleo 是一套 ATS 系統. 它會跟據 Resume 內容與 JD 匹配. 所以請善用像 jobscan
   一類的工具. 儘量用 doc 或 txt, 避免用 pdf.

8. 這是一個新成立的組. 這個職缺直屬於 MSD Research Lab (MRL, 總部好像在波士頓).
   日後有意願的話, 內調到歐美的機會很大 (其實辦公室有滿高比例外國人是其他地區內
   調來的).

9. 老闆是一個人很好的美國白人. 有點碎嘴就是了..

10.辦公室走 google 風. 小點心飲料咖啡隨你喝. 辦公室有鋼琴, 撞球台, XBOX. 按摩椅
   (就是沒有跑步機..唉..)
