Albert Pujols, who had his 1,500th career hit in the third inning Saturday,
entered that game second in the National League in batting (.356) and leading
the league with a .632 slugging percentage. With only 45 strikeouts this season
against 87 walks, Pujols has the chance to do something accomplished only three
times since 1950: lead the league in both batting and slugging with a high
walk-strikeout ratio. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the previous
hitters to do so were Barry Bonds (2002, 2004) and George Brett (1980).

如果到球季結束小普維持長打率及打擊率領先的話，會是1950年後第三位擁有
高四壞－三振比的聯盟長打率及打擊率領先者。前兩位分別為皇家先生，1980
當季三圍.390/.454/.664，BB/SO－58/22；Bonds有兩次:02年三圍.370/.582/
.799，BB/SO－198/47，04年則是.362/.609/.812，BB/SO－232/41。小普今年
到目前為止三圍.362/.468/.644，BB/SO－87/45；在打擊率的競爭者有Chipper
Jones－.359、Matt Holiday－.337、Lance Berkman－.335；長打率的競爭者
有Lance Berkman－.612、Ryan Ludwick－.600、Ryan Braun－.594。
