Tim O’Reilly 在去年(2005)的 Web 2.0 Conference 舉辦之前於自己的 blog
上比較完整而具體的描述了所謂 Web 2.0 的概念(What Is Web 2.0: Design
Patterns and Business Models for the Next Generation of Software)，並
給予定義:
Web 2.0 is the network as platform, spanning all connected devices; W
eb 2.0 applications are those that make the most of the intrinsic adv
antages of that platform: delivering software as a continually-update
d service that gets better the more people use it, consuming and remi
xing data from multiple sources, including individual users, while pr
oviding their own data and services in a form that allows remixing by
others, creating network effects through an "architecture of partici
pation," and going beyond the page metaphor of Web 1.0 to deliver ric
h user experiences.
為了能夠比較顯示出差異，Tim O’Reilly 舉出幾個可以被稱為 Web 2.0 的網
站系統(有一些甚至不是特定網站)，例如 DoubleClick 是 Web 1.0；Google A
dSense 則是 Web 2.0、Ofoto 是 Web 1.0；Flickr 則是 Web 2.0、大英百科
線上 (Britannica Online) 是 Web 1.0；Wikipedia 是 Web 2.0、個人網站是
Web 1.0；Blog 是 Web 2.0 等。以上 Web 2.0 網站都在短時間內聚集了大量
的使用者基礎，而且他們都有某些共通的元素。

會自己標榜說自己是 Web 2.0 卻沒有使用者回饋的的大概都不是真的 2.0。
不過什麼 2.0 本來就是一種概念在形式包裝的宣揚炒作而已……
