Rosales had a 'great time'
Amsterdam, 06 mrt 2007
The dye has been cast. Mauro Rosales returns to his native Argentina
to play for River Plate. After two and a half years the right winger
bids Ajax farewell.
"The past years were great", said the argentine before saying goodbye
to the staff of Ajax. "It was the first time in Europe for me and Ajax
clearly was the best choice for me. Because of the team, the individual
players and everyone that works for Ajax, I look back at those three
years with great fondness. Of course, there are also negative things,
but in the end I had a great time at Ajax. I have always worked hard
and I leave with good memories. I am proud to have been an Ajax player."
Rosales leaves Ajax not only with in his bagage the Cup win in 2006 and
two Johan Cruijff Shields, he also takes home precious memories of
Amsterdam and the Amsterdammers. "Many people have helped me and have
shown me around. It is good to know that I have good friends in Holland."
Now Rosales returns to Argentina to play for top club River Plate.
"It is the best club in the country; every little boy in Argentina wants
to play there later. I have heard good things about the club of players
of the national team. River Plate is a lot like Ajax in that respect.
That's why I am going back; I could not pass this up."
The South-American has not ruled out a return to Europe. "I hope to get
another chance with a European club after River Plate. In Spain, Italy
or maybe Holland." But first Rosales turns his focus to a new start at
River Plate and his departure of Ajax. "I have always done my best at
Ajax. My mentality is to always give a hundred per cent. I always want
to win."
