Robert Pires was “touched and moved” by the ovation he received at Emirates
Stadium on Wednesday evening.
週三晚間酋長球場熱烈的掌聲打動了老皮。

The Frenchman was part of a Villarreal side well-beaten by Arsenal on the
night but the Champions League tie also served as the “goodbye” the
midfielder craved after ending a stellar six-year spell in north London in
2006.
法國人曾經是那個晚上擊敗潛水艇的一員，但同樣是那年的冠軍聯賽，讓這名中場告別了
效力六年的槍手。

He was cheered as he warmed up and, when walking off the pitch afterwards,
Pires’ name rang around the stadium. It was clearly appreciated by former
Gunner Pires.
老皮熱身時受到球迷歡呼，當他走入球場時Pires之名響徹雲霄，毫無疑問的這是出於球迷
對這名老槍手的感謝與愛。

“Personally, I wasn’t expecting such a warm and an amazing welcome from the
Arsenal fans,” he said afterwards.
老皮說:我壓根沒想到會得到槍迷如此熱烈和驚人的歡迎。

“It shows how great the Arsenal fans are and that they don’t forget their
former players. I was really touched and moved by their ovation and the fact
that they were singing my name.”
這展現槍手球迷的偉大，他們不會遺忘為阿森納賣命過的球員。當他們歌頌我的名字時，
我深深的被感動了。

Pires had a decent first-half chance to level the match on the night - and
the tie overall - but his shot deflected wide. However the 35-year-old
believes Villarreal missed their opportunity last week in Spain.
上半場老皮有一個不錯的機會能把比賽拉回原點，追平比分，可惜這腳射門偏離了球門。
然而這名35歲老將認為潛水艇主要是在上週主場比賽錯失了機會。

And, despite the domination of English side, he says threat of the remaining
La Liga side will be serious.
儘管英超具有強勢的地位，老皮說西甲仍然具有其大的威脅性。

“We have some regrets from the first leg where we could have scored more
goals and made a bigger difference,” said Pires.
在首回合的比賽中有些遺憾，我們本可以打進第二粒入球，確立更大的優勢。

“That’s where we missed the chance to go through. But tonight, Arsenal was
too strong for us. Physically, we responded – something we didn’t do in the
first leg  - but they managed to score more than us.
那使我們失去了部分晉級的機會。但是今晚，槍手太過強大。我們沒有像第一回合比賽
那般，但是他們渴望比我們進更多球。

“We have been saying for years now that the English League is the best in
the world. They have their way of doing things and they always have [strong]
results.

。

“England always have the same clubs in the last four of the Champions League
which shows that the way they are playing football is, for me, the best but
they should watch out for Barcelona.

但是他們必須小心巴薩。

“They are the only ones left that will try to break the English domination.”
他們是僅存一支試圖打破英超壟斷局面的球隊。
