Jack Wilshere says it’s “ridiculous” to suggest the FA Cup has lost its
shine.

Charlie George, Alan Sunderland and Andy Linighan all wrote their names into
Arsenal folklore with their Cup heroics and Wilshere sees no reason why the
current crop can’t do the same.

Arsenal are some way from Wembley but, ahead of tonight’s Third-Round replay
with Leeds, Wilshere admits the competition still has a certain romance and
is very much something the players want to win.

“It’s ridiculous [to say that the FA Cup has lost its significance],” the
Hertfordshire-born midfielder told Arsenal.com. “It’s a trophy at the end
of the day and we want to win it.

“People say that because we play a different team but we’ve got the squad
to play a different team, it’s massive for us.

that before. That’s the FA Cup for you.

changed the game. We got out of jail really.”

Arsenal's Jack Wilshere bailed over taxi driver incident

‧ Bailed until next month after alleged altercation on 19 December
‧ Teenager with friends when driver said he was verbally abused

Jack Wilshere has been bailed until next month following an incident before
Christmas. The Arsenal midfielder was part of a group of friends that
allegedly had a verbal altercation with a taxi driver in Paddington, west
London.

The 19-year-old was arrested in the early hours of 19 December after the
driver, who is thought to be in his 60s, had told the group that he was
off-duty.

The driver went to a police station to report the incident and claimed he had
been verbally abused.
