Progress for Crosby:
A's shortstop Bobby Crosby, who hasn't played since Opening Day because of
stress fractures in his ribs, took a major step forward Friday.
Crosby took grounders on the field, and in the cage hit soft-toss and off a
tee.
A's trainer Larry Davis said Crosby swung the bat a few times back in Oakland
while the team was on its trip to New York and Boston, but Friday was the
first time Crosby hit a ball since going on the DL.
"Crosby's injury is essentially healed, and now it's time to get the baseball
skill work back together," Davis said.
