Hitting ability: Lewis can flat-out hit. At very big showcase, including this
one, he comes up with a couple of hits. There are holes in his swing, but he
uses all fields well.
Power: He's showing at least average power now, with room for more in the
future.
Running speed: He's got below-average speed, 4.5 second sdown the line.
Base running: Despite the lack of speed, he's a decent baserunner, one who
doesn't clog the basepaths at all.
Arm strength: His arm is average to a tick above, maybe a 55 on the scale.
Fielding: He's an above-average defender at third with plus hands and easy
footwork and exchanges.
Range: A former shortstop who outgrew the position, he's got plenty of range
and mobility.
Physical Description: Lewis looks the part of a big league third baseman:
strong and muscular with broad shoulders and a trim waist.
Medical Update: Healthy.
Strengths: Excellent overall hitting package with some power. Above-average
defender at third.
Weaknesses: There are some holes and inconsistencies in his swing, though they
don't cause a problem now. He's a below-average runner.
Summary: Lewis looks the part of a third baseman, from his offensive skill set
to his glove work to his physical appearance. Tall and muscular, he can hit to
all fields and should have more than enough power for the position. He's got
the hands, range and arm to stick at third as well. While there are some issues
with his swing, he's shown a knack for performing well under the spotlight. The
total package makes him one of the more intriguing high school position players
in the 2010 Draft class.
