Real Betis found themselves defeated tonight as Europa League champions
Atletico Madrid recorded a decent victory over their Segunda Division
opponents.
Los Colchoneros' Ignacio Camacho was the first player to score. The
20-year-old midfielder's 8th minute strike was enough to break the deadlock.
Alberto Perea doubled Atleti's lead just before the half-hour, marking the
last big event before the capital club went inside at the break with a
significant lead.
With Atletico seemingly running away with the game, the catalogue of changes
at the break for both sides saw a change in the play, eventually resulting in
Betis clawing one back.
Former Borussia Dortmund winger and Germany international David Odonkor was
the culprit in the beginning of the fight-back after 70 minutes, however his
goal was not enough to inspire his side to restore parity.
