波音超尷尬了, Cargolux拒收2架747-8F
這下大條了. 據推測, 有可能與先前廣告的Payload-Range 差異太大而被拒收.
連帶這也可能會影響到747-8i 客機潛在買家的信心.

Cargolux Rejects New Boeing Planes, May Seek Alternatives

Cargolux Airlines International SA confirmed that it had "rejected" the
first two 747-8F cargo planes ordered from Boeing Co. (BA) following a
contract dispute that could see it look for alternative aircraft if the spat
can't be resolved.
The Luxembourg-based air freight company Friday called off a ceremony
scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday to mark the delivery of the revamped
jumbo freighter after a two-year delay caused by production and design
problems.
The move was an embarrassment for Boeing, which planned to deliver the first
747-8F and the delayed 787 Dreamliner to their first customers this month.
There is no indication the 787 will be affected by the Cargolux move.
Boeing has already paid out millions in compensation to customers of both
planes because of the delays.
Qatar Airways acquired a 35% stake in Cargolux during the summer, and the
Gulf-based carrier has developed a reputation as a tough negotiator with
aircraft manufacturers.
Cargolux said in a statement Saturday that "unresolved contractual issues"
prompted the airline to reject the first two of the 13 747-8Fs on order. New
aircraft types often struggle to meet the performance criteria provided by
manufacturers, with glitches and extra weight often removed from later
planes.
Boeing said Friday that it continued talks with Cargolux and looked forward
to delivering the two affected planes.
But Cargolux said it might look to "source alternative capacity" if the
dispute continued into the upcoming peak shipping season. It has put the
financing for the two planes--arranged by J.P. Morgan with a guarantee from
the U.S. Export-Import Bank, on hold.
Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings (AAWW) and Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. (0293.HK,
CPCAY) are also due to take delivery of the 747-8F this year, with Deutsche
Lufthansa AG (LHA.XE, DLAKY), the launch customer for the passenger version,
set to take delivery next year.
