Incident: Emirates A388 at Tokyo on Oct. 21st, 2012, Asymmetric Flaps. An Emirates Airbus A380-800, registration A6-EDC performing flight EK-319 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), was in the initial climb out of Narita Airport's runway 34L when the crew could not retract the flaps with the flaps becoming asymmetric and disabled. The crew levelled off at 7,000 feet, dumped fuel and returned to Narita Airport. A first approach to runway 34L was aborted at low height (about 400 feet AGL) due to changing winds, the aircraft positioned for another approached and landed safely on runway 16R at a higher than normal speed about 70 minutes after departure, vacated the runway and taxied to the apron, where as result of overheated brakes 11 tyres deflated. The flight was cancelled.
