Darius Miles probably wouldn't be a Blazer if he had sparkling character.
Players with the physical tools he possesses don't play for three teams in
four years because they are saints.
He's talented, but his two of his previous employers decided his potential
wasn't worth the trouble. Not saying he's a horrible person, but it appears
he's been difficult to deal with.
He had reported run-ins with Cavs' coaches. And right before the Blazers
acquired him, he had skipped practice in Cleveland. So the team probably had
an idea of what it was getting itself into.
But does that excuse his behavior here, now?
Of course not.
And what about the influence Miles has on the young players. Does a guy
making $48 million over the next several years have a reponsibility to help
the franchise move in the right direction? If not to help groom the young
players, at least to not encourage disrespectful behavior directed at his
superiors within the organization? You know, the people that decided he was
worth $48 freaking million?
Most fans in the forum are bashing Miles, but some feel his outburst was
inevitable due to Mo Cheeks perceived lack of coaching ability.
