Theres few interesting news bits from Quick about trade rumors:
*NVE is attracting the most interest at the moment. There are
5 teams that are most interest and look as though they are going
to make a push for him in the coming 2 weeks. Dallas, Houston,
Miami, Indy and Phoniex. Dallas and Houston seem to be the MOST
interested. One GM said that Terry and a young player for NVE
could be a possibility. Terry has some baggage so he may not be
the best option.
*Utah has called the Blazers after Eldan Campbell was claimed
off of waivers by the Nets. This means that the Jazz dont have
to pay his 4.1 million in salary which puts them under the cap.
They called John Nash and told them that they are willing to be
a parter in a 3 team deal if we need it.
*The All Star game has been pushed back a week this year putting
it right next to the trading deadline. So this year more than
others were going to see a flurry of deals go down around that
time. A lot of teams GM's will be down in Denver meeting to
discuss deals. John Nash is not sure if he will be there or not.
He wants to scout however he said that next week he is going
to call every GM in the leauge and if he gets the sense that
there is a hot lead to follow he will be down there.
*The Blazers want to get rid of DA (duh!)
*John Nash has said that if it looks like the team is making
a push and wins a lot of the upcoming games before the break
that he will go out there and get us a vet to help.
*Outlaw and Telfair are drawing a ton of interest.
*The Blazers are going to try and sign Monia and bring him over
THIS season. The Euro leauge is trying to scare players like
Monia with talks of an NBA lockout. They are telling them "Hey
you better sign with us because if you dont do it now we wont
sign you later and you wont have a job in the NBA." So they are
going to try and get him here soon like they did with Ha, plus
the Blazers think that he can step in and play some 2 gaurd for
us.
On other side notes, Cheeks loves Khraypa. He calls him a fearless
player and brings a lot of energy, much like a Ruben Patterson.
Quick's sense (the same sense that told him the Blazers will
keep Sheed all season ) is that if the Blazer do make a good
push for the playoffs there will be a trade or two made. He
thinks that if the Blazers tank these next few games and the
team is 10 games outta the playoffs that they will just keep
all the contracts and get the savings. Paul Allen's view is
that if this team is going to be losing he wants to save money
at the same time.
