NBA GM’s like Blazers’ Roy for Rookie of the Year honors
Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy is the favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the
Year award according to league general managers who released their annual
survey today.
Among the other predictions of the exclusive survey, providing fans with an
inside look into the minds of NBA decision-makers on the 2006-07 NBA season,
GMs believe the San Antonio Spurs will win The Finals and LeBron James will
be named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
Roy received 44 percent of the vote for Rookie of the Year, followed by Adam
Morrison with 26 percent and Randy Foye with 15 percent. Roy and fellow
rookie LaMarcus Aldridge also received votes for the NBA rookie that will be
the best player in fives years and rookie most likely to be a “sleeper”
success.
Former Blazer Terry Porter also received votes for best NBA assistant coach
as did former Blazers head coach PJ Carlesimo, former assistant coach Tim
Grgurich, and Portland native and former University of Portland guard Eric
Spoelstra.
