Analysis:
In Nate Mcmillan’s second year as head coach the team improved, winning 11
more games than the previous season. However, that still landed them in 4th
place in the Northwest Division and without a playoff appearance. After
several trades following last year’s draft, Portland’s rookies included
Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Sergio Rodriguez. Aldridge and Roy became
core players for Portland averaging 9.0 ppg and 16.8 ppg respectively.
Veteran Zack Randolph led the team compiling averages of 23.6 ppg and 10.1
rpg. Injuries to Roy, Randolph, Joel Przybilla, Aldridge and Darius Miles
hindered the young team, but the lottery draft awarded Portland the first
pick in the 2007 Draft, which grants the Blazers the opportunity to select
one of two potential household names: Greg Oden or Kevin Durant.
