Around this time of the year, you are bound to hear everything.

The Olympics are over. A handful of free agents remain. Summer league is well
forgotten. Yet trade rumors persist with the latest spin involving the
Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies.

According to published reports – courtesy of the Memphis Edge – the Blazers
have been in talks with the Grizzlies regarding a Travis Outlaw for a
fill-in-the-blank point guard. The post details how Mike Conley could be on
Portland's wish-list, instead of Kyle Lowry.

While the thought of the deal reads well on paper with Outlaw, a Starksville,
Mississippi native returning home, and Portland receiving a point guard - if
Conley is that man – to solidify their lineup, it's difficult to truly tell
if there is any truth in the rumor.

and Pritchard stood by team policy opting not too comment on the situation.
The team doesn't discuss trade rumors, legit or otherwise.

Then again, this isn't necessarily the first time Outlaw's name has surfaced
with the Grizzlies or trade talks at all.

Around draft time, the Blazers 6-9 small forward was believed to be headed to
Memphis in exchange for Mike Miller and a draft pick. The deal never went
down. Miller was sent packing to Minnesota, while Outlaw is now involved in
another possible trade scenario. There were also sources close to the Blazers
who suggested Outlaw was a piece of the puzzle back when Portland appeared
interested in Toronto Raptors point guard Jose Calderon, who re-signed with
the club this summer.
選秀前, Outlaw被傳聞要拿來跟灰熊換Mike Miller和一個選秀簽, 沒成功. Miller被交

So where does this leave Outlaw and the situation with the Grizzlies?
It can go one of two ways: either Outlaw stays on as Portland's sixth man, or
he goes.

Outlaw – the longest tenured member of the Blazers – is coming off a
career-year where he averaged 13.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 26.7 minutes
per game and his trade value could be at an all-time high. His breakout year
included several fourth quarter heroics. There were times when head coach
Nate McMillan opted to run go-to plays for Portland with Outlaw when the
Blazers needed a bucket.
Outlaw在拓荒者裡頭最資深的球員, 來到了他生涯的高峰, 在26.7的上場時間中, 13.3分

This coupled with his impressive athleticism, and it it's easy to see why
Outlaw could be used in a trade scenario. He has a lot to offer. But Outlaw's
absence would also leave a void in Portland's line-up. While both shooting
guard Martell Webster and rookie Rudy Fernandez could see time at small
forward, McMillan also used Outlaw as a power forward at times during Portland's 41-41 season.
把這和他令人印象深刻的運動力一起看, 很容易的知道為什麼outlaw會被放在交易名單上

The whole point guard debate is also interesting, if Portland truly is
seeking Conley in return.
而控衛的爭論也很有趣, 拓荒者是否真的在追求Conley.
Memphis is loaded at the position with Conley, Lowry, O.J. Mayo and Javaris
Crittenton. Yet so is Portland, who boasts Steve Blake, Sergio Rodriguez,
rookie Jerryd Bayless and certainly Brandon Roy, who is being pegged as the
floor general in certain stretches.

Even so, no move is the best move if it involves Outlaw.

Portland is believed to have faith in a defensive-minded Blake at the point,
with rookie point guard Bayless- who earned summer league MVP honors in Las
Vegas – as his possible back-up. The Blazers also left Vegas enamored with
Bayless' aggressiveness, a sure asset in Portland's backcourt. This leaves
Rodriguez on the outside looking in.

The Grizzlies are in a similar situation. Conley looks like the projected
starter with Mayo also seeing major minutes, leaving Lowry and Crittenton the
odd men out. But if a deal is struck between Portland and Memphis that could
all change.
灰熊也在同樣的情況, Conley看起來像是計畫中的先發, 但Mayo也同時再爭取上場時間.
這樣剩下Lowry和Crittenton這些老人出線. 但如果這交易是牽扯到拓荒者和灰熊的話,
一切都有可能改變.
It all comes down to if Travis Outlaw is really on the trading block.
這全都決定於outlaw是不是真的在交易名單上.
