Blazers Coming Of Age
The Portland Trail Blazers have a new motto this season. The numbers may not
add up to everyone but it makes complete sense to those involved: 15=16.
波特蘭拓荒者這季有個新口號，15=16，這數字對每個人或許沒啥意義，但是的確可以
引伸出一些比喻。
This isn't exactly lost in translation - far from it.
這完全不是翻譯上的錯誤，意義差多了。
For head coach Nate McMillan and the rest of the Blazers the equation equals
out. It will take Portland's entire 15-man roster to help qualify the Blazers
as one of 16 playoff teams this season.

At least that's the goal – the playoffs – and the motto the team has openly
embraced. But "15=16" aren't the only numbers being tossed around Rip City
these days. In fact the whole league knows where the Blazers stand among the
elder teams.

At an average age of 23 Portland is officially the youngest team in the NBA.

"I don't want people doubting us because we are so young," said small
forward Travis Outlaw who recently turned 24-years-old. "We drafted some
players that are really ready to come in and play. But I think we can
accomplish a lot this year."

(23), Greg Oden (20), Jerryd Bayless (20) and Nicolas Batum (20) are perhaps
the most glorified rookie class in team history, leaving some critics to
berate Portland's inexperience as their one downfall this season.

rookie class takes exception. Oden had an entire year to scout the big men of
the league and muscle-up while rehabbing his surgically repaired knee.
Fernandez wasn't a multiple Spanish League MVP for nothing and Bayless
learned some tricks of the trade while a member of the US Select team this
summer competing against Chris Paul and Deron Williams.
別把年輕和缺乏經驗及沒幹勁搞混了，即使拓荒者菜鳥們有個例外，Oden有了一整年去

Portland is in good hands. They don't need a bunch of rookies to broadcast
that news across the league, although it sure doesn't hurt. The lack of
veterans on the team is obvious, maybe even more-so with growing pains
apparent. But that doesn't mean the team is devoid of leaders on the floor or
in the locker room.

If the one knock on Portland this season is their "youth" then there is
plenty worse that has been said about this franchise in the past. Then again,
wading in the fountain of youth is nothing new for the Blazers. It's been
like that for some time now.

The one difference though this season is Portland knows what must be done to
combat being labeled the youngest team in the league.

"Now it's on our shoulders to push one another," said Roy.
