Pritchard says Blazers will exercise options for Blake, Outlaw

With weeks remaining before the NBA draft and start of free agency, the Trail
Blazers already have made their first significant decision of the offseason.
General manager Kevin Pritchard told The Oregonian on Friday that the Blazers
have decided to exercise team options on starting point guard Steve Blake and
sixth man Travis Outlaw, two key components of last season's playoff team.

"We'll keep them," Pritchard said. "I can't see a scenario where we don't.
They've been terrific for us this year. They were major parts of 54 wins. We'll
pick them up."

By picking up the options, which the Blazers officially will need to do by June
30, the franchise will take on roughly $8 million in salary for next season and
bring back two players who are coming off career seasons.

Blake, who started all 69 games he played, averaged a career-high 11.0 points,
made a career-best 140 three-pointers and averaged 5.0 assists last season.
Outlaw, who finished fifth in the NBA's sixth-man of the year voting, averaged
12.8 points and 4.1 rebounds and made a career-high 89 three pointers.

Despite their success, the players are also two of the most controversial among
Blazers fans. Point guard is widely viewed as an area the team needs to upgrade
if it hopes to get over the championship hump -- the team has drafted players
at that position in two of the past three drafts, including last year when the
Blazers traded up to acquire Jerryd Bayless.

儘管他們傑出的表現，這兩位球員對於球迷還說是最有爭議的球員。控衛是普遍被認為這支

And Outlaw became a playoff scapegoat for fans because of a discouraging
postseason in which he shot just 31.8 percent from the field and 25 percent
from three-point range while enduring a drop in scoring, assists and rebounds.

而Outlaw則成為了球迷眼中季後賽的代罪羔羊，因為他31.8%的命中率以及25%的三分球，這
也造成得分，助攻和籃板數據的下降。

By exercising the options, which was expected, Pritchard leaves himself four
open roster spots heading into the thick of the offseason and plenty of salary
cap space to lure free agents or use in trying to make trades. Although the NBA
salary cap has not been locked for next season, the Blazers expect to have
approximately $7 million in cap room to play with this offseason

透過被預期會執行的選擇權，KP留給他自己的陣容4個開放的位置進入最激烈的季外競爭，
以及巨大的薪資空間來吸引自由球員或是來交易。儘管下季還沒超NBA的薪資上限，拓荒者
預估將會有7百萬的薪資算進去薪資空間裡頭。
