Trail Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard and coach Nate McMillan spoke with the media
shortly after the conclusion of Thursday's NBA Draft. We'll have video of the
press conference up in the blog later (and be sure to read Joe Freeman's
report), but here are a few notes and quotes from KP and McMillan.

First, on the Sergio Rodriguez trade ... KP thanked Sergio for his time in
Portland but acknowledged it was "his time." Nate mentioned that Serigo wanted
a larger role on the Blazers but that wasn't possible. Both sides were appeared
to acknowledge Sergio wasn't a perfect fit in Portland.

對於Sergio的交易，KP感謝他對拓荒者的付出，而Nate說到Sergio在拓荒者要有發展空間

As far as this year's draft picks, KP mentioned Victor Claver was a guy they've
been targeting for a for a while, adding they don't expect him to come over for
a couple of years.

"We wanted Victor," Pritchard said. "We think very highly of Victor."

"We had targeted some guys and we got the guys we targeted."

The other players they targeted and they grabbed early in the second round
McMillan referred to as "tough guys," in forwards Jeff Pendergraph and Dante
Cunningham.

"There was a big that was available and filled a need," McMillan said about
Pendergraph, selected 31st. "The draft was about taking the best talent that
was available where we were picking."

The Blazers' final pick of the draft, Patty Mills at 55, could be considered a
steal. Many mock drafts had Mills as an early second rounder, some even slotted
him at the end of the first round. Suffice to say the Blazers were surprised
when Mills was available for the taking at 55.

Both KP and McMillan cited his Olympic performance last summer, playing for his
native Australia, as a reason the Blazers were initially drawn to Mills.

I asked Nate what exactly it was he saw in from Mills in the Olympics that
stood out and McMillan repeatedly mentioned Mills' speed.

On a conference call, Mills also pointed to his Olympic performance (which he
called the highlight of his basketball career) as a reason he caught the eye of
NBA teams, stating his "strength is his quickness."

After sliding to the end of the draft, Mills seemed more happy than relieved to
be selected by the Blazers.

Mills ended his conference call in fitting Aussie fashion with, "no worries,

You can expect all three of the Blazers' second round picks to play on the
summer league team, but don't expect Mills to play much point. McMillan was
emphatic in giving about 90 percent of the point guard minutes to Bayless.

Overall it seemed the Blazers accomplished what they wanted to on draft night.
Get a player they can stash over seas (preserving cap space), while napping
some "tough" second rounders (non-guaranteed contracts) who have a shot to make
the roster, along with a harmless pick of a point guard with potential late in
the draft.

整體來說，看起來拓荒者很滿意他們選秀會上拿到的人。

得到一個可以放海外省薪資的球員，一些強硬的球員(非保障合約)，並在無關痛癢的後段
拿到有潛力的控衛。

There was no flash or dash in the form of multiple-player deals in this draft.
The moves in this draft were more about what's to come. As was the case in
years past, this draft wasn't about who the Blazers passed on or who they
picked. Those days are in the past. Now it's about getting better through other
means.

選秀會上並沒有發生涉及多個球員的交易，而過去在選秀會上的動作也多出許多。但跟過去
起來，這次的選秀並不是著重在拓荒者選了誰或是錯過誰，這都是過去的該注意的事。

現在，得用別的方法來讓球隊更上一層樓。

The feeling from this draft, and the press conference that followed, was
Portland's eyes are on July, when the free agency period begins.

從選秀和接下來的討論感覺到，拓荒者把目標放在七月，也就是自由市場啟動的時候。
