[外電] Oden out for the season following successful surgery

Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden is out for the season following
surgery Sunday to repair a fractured patella in his left knee, the team
announced.

Two screws were inserted in Oden's left knee to re-attach the patella. He
received no ligament damage due to the injury.

阿拓宣告Oden會因為這個傷整季報銷。手術是使他的左膝蓋骨重新附著，而這一次
的受傷並沒有對韌帶造成傷害。


Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard said he expects Oden to make a full
recovery.

"Greg will get over this," said Pritchard, who added that Oden's spirts were
high following the surgery, and that he will soon be joined by his family at
a regional hospital.

Pritchard stated that Oden will wear a brace during his recovery.

KP說他希望Oden能完全復原，並提到他的精神還不錯。而在復原期間會使用拐杖。


Following today's surgery, a two-month process will follow in which the bone
attached to Oden's patella will repair and bond, Pritchard said. During this
timeframe, Oden's movement will be limited. He will be re-evaluated following
this stage.

Next, muscular atrophy will occur. Another two months should then pass,
during which Oden is able to move more as his leg and hamstring strengthen.

在今天手術後的兩個月過程中，是要使Oden的膝蓋骨修補並重新附著。在這段時間他的
行動會受到限制，並評估復原狀況。

接著，會有肌肉萎縮的發生。所以接下來他必須復健。



Pritchard said Oden is definitely out for the season, though, and the
earliest he could return to action is this summer.

The Blazers GM confirmed that Oden's injury was a non-impact type that likely
occurred because the quadrcieps muscle in Oden's leg is so strong that it put
intense pressure on his patella.

Pritchard added that doctors do not believe there is a connection between a
chipped patella Oden suffered on the same knee last season and his new injury.

And the Portland GM said he still would not hesitate if given a second chance
to go through the 2007 draft.
