Nate for Coach of the Year. I don't understand why Scott Brooks is getting
all the consideration. Sure he's took a team from 23 wins to maybe 50 wins
this season, but at the 8th spot. Last year Nate took a team who every
analyst said wont make the playoffs or will get 8th seed, made them tied for
second in the win column in the western conference and co-division champions
going to the playoffs with the 4th seed. No Coach of the Year for Brooks.
But I may just be bitter than Nate McMillan is likely going to get snubbed
again this year for COTY.

Sure, he might keep them focused - and that's important - but his "playbook"
still sucks. I'm sorry, that bit about Dante being "out of step with the
playbook" made me chuckle. What playbook? And assuming there is a playbook,
was Outlaw ever IN step with it?
What we've been seeing is Miller going about his business ever since his
"high volume chat" with Nate. Miller and Camby are more responsible for our
success than Nate - perhaps they should share the COY award between the two
of them.

Sure, Nate has much more knowledge of the game than I do - but that doesn't
mean he's doing a good job. Let's take a look at just some of the things that
Nate has done a poor job on: 1) We're playing the same brand of basketball
that we played when we had Zach/etc. 2) He didn't come into this season with
any sort of plan on how to integrate key new players - he wanted Miller to
play like Blake and Oden to play like Joel. 3) He said the best PG in
training camp would earn the starting spot, and then gave it to Blake when
Miller clearly outplayed him. 4) He played a 3-guard line-up, which put our
two players out of position - one of them being our STAR SG! 5) He's preaches
defense, but we still haven't seen good team defense - all our defense comes
from the talents of Batum/Webster and Joel/Oden/Camby. 6) Along with defense
he preaches "team" basketball, but continually played Outlaw when he played
zero defense and was continually lost in the most basic NBA offensive sets.
7) Isolations and jump shots - enough said about that.
So yes, Nate is good at keeping the team focused and that's gone a long way
towards our success. But aside from that - which ANY coach should do - he's
not very good. What we're seeing is Miller, and now Camby, running the team
and teaching the young guys the small nuances that will make them and the
team better. It's similar to Nash in PHX - everyone thought that (d)'Antoni
was a great coach but it was Nash who was running the show. Nash is still
doing his thing and (d)'Antoni isn't looking like much of a coach in NY -
nobody expected him to win, but they expected SOMETHING.

The people who think that Nate is a bad coach don't know much about
basketball.

One thing I've been noticing is Nate is a way better coach when Roy isn't on
the floor. I think the problem is he leans on Roy too much for offense and
only runs horrible sets for him. When Roy's gone, Nate actually runs an
offense, which gets good shots (great example was the the flex cut that got
Batum an easy jam to put the Thunder away).

Nate is good coach when he has only 7 players to play with and No Roy
around,..It took him 4 years to get from 20 wins to 50 wins..
Scott Brooks got it on second year he got with team!!!That's impressive!!
And whoever says that other cities columnists know anything ...they coming
from what you are coming :" ohh he won 50 games with 300 games of injuries""
Read my first sentence!!!
We have great and deep roster(thanks KP) and even if we lost all starters due
to injuries we still would win 50 games even without Nate!!
----------------------------------
Watch Nate closely in playoffs..You will see how great he is..He will panic
..he will shuffle roster ..he will be robotic on his decisions.. He will play
Bayless and Howard for extended period of time and we will fall back even
deeper..
Just watch!!
And yes ..we will get Utah in first round..
