Ethidium bromide 會堆疊在 DNA nucleotides 之間. 形成 complex.
DNA/EtBr complex 吸收 300 nm 的紫外線, 然後放出螢光 590 nm.
這就是用 EtBr 染色的原理.
很明顯的, EtBr 會和 DNA 作用, 表示它有潛在造成突變的能力,
它有可能是致癌物.
