TORONTO (AP) -- The Blue Jays put slugger Carlos Delgado on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of a strained right rib cage, making the move retroactive to May 30. ``We've already lost him for 10 days and if this thing pulls again we could los e him for 30 days,'' Toronto manager Carlos Tosca said. ``It's only a precaution. Hopefully, he'll be able to swing pain free by the we ekend,'' he said. Delgado was second in AL MVP voting last year after hitting .302 with 42 homers and a major league-leading 145 RBIs. The first baseman is hitting .227 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs this season. The Blue Jays also placed left-hander Valerio De Los Santos on the 15-day DL wi th a sore shoulder, and activated shortstop Chris Woodward, outfielder Frank Ca talanotto and right-hander Justin Speier from the 15-day DL. Speier (sore shoulder) missed 25 games, Woodward (strained right hamstring) was out for 24 games and Catalanotto (strained right groin) missed 16. ``I've never seen this many injuries on one team, but we're starting to get guy s back,'' manager Carlos Tosca said. Toronto also optioned outfielder Simon Pond to Triple-A Syracuse.
