COXON BLAMES EX-BANDMATES FOR SPLIT
Ex-BLUR guitarist GRAHAM COXON blames his former bandmates for not noticing
his alcoholism and helping him. Coxon quit the group in 2002 after his
relationship with DAMON ALBARN, ALEX JAMES and DAVE ROWNTREE collapsed.
He reveals his drink problem was to blame for the split - but insists Albarn
and James should have spotted the danger signs and helped him. The 37-year-old
says, "I was an alcoholic mess and not able to fulfil my obligations. "The
rest of the band could have stood back and seen I was having a terrible time.
They could have tried to help. It raises the question of how responsible we
felt for each other."
