A fact that did leave him a little puzzled. The Braves re-acquired the first baseman last season but did not offer him a contract over the winter. The Braves instead signed Troy Glaus to play first. “The only shock was I really thought I would have an opportunity to come back here,” LaRoche said before a start of a three-game series with the Braves. “As far as another team perhaps calling with two or three years [contract offer] or something, but as far as a year or two [contract offer] I thought there was a pretty good chance when I left that I’d be back in Atlanta. They went in a different direction. I’m not looking back. “I didn’t really get involved in the negotiations for the first few weeks or few months. I was just kind of waiting to hear from Atlanta, possibly Boston, to see what some of the offers might be from places I’ve been. Then when I heard Atlanta was out, that’s when we went on and starting making some calls or returning some calls to go in a different direction. … I can’t say it wasn’t a sad day. I was in a little bit of shock that nothing was going to happen, even in the negotiation process.” The left-handed batter signed a one-year contract with the Diamondbacks after hitting .277 for Atlanta, Boston and Pittsburgh last season with 25 home runs and 83 RBIs. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 114.136.124.196
