You can find further information about bridge in University on the site http://www.unibridge.org/ May we take the opportunity of reminding you that we will be organising the World Mind Sport Games in Beijing from 3 – 18 October 2008. This great new event is to be held under the auspices of IMSA (The International Mind Sports Association). As a member country of the World Bridge Federation, we are asking you to work immediately, during 2007, to select and train a National Youth Team to compete in the Junior Teams, Pairs and Individual Championships to be held during this fantastic event. We hope to have one competing team per Member Country and it is very important that you, as a National Federation, are there with a competing team. It is hoped that considerable financial support for the Junior players will be available, including full board accommodation and possibly the transport costs. We all count on your support to ensure the success of this event. The Inter-Nation World Bridge Teams Championships (formerly the World Teams Olympiad), for one team per WBF member country in the Open, Women’s and Seniors categories will be played at the same time, and we hope that you will all send teams to this challenging and exciting event. Small federations who will send a junior team may be able to receive some support for their Open or Women’s team also. The World Transnational Mixed Teams will, as always be held during the second week of this great event. Of course, we hope that you are already planning towards this as it really is important for not only the larger and more experienced countries but also for the smaller Federations try and find a way to train their youngsters ready for this experience – if you start to teach them now, then by October 2008 they will be ready to take part and enjoy the challenge! We, the World Bridge Federation, will do all that we can to help you. We need, and indeed, rely on, your help to promote this event and Mr Damiani, President of the World Bridge Federation, particularly asks you to start your planning now.
