Dick Freeman (1933-2009)
Dick Freeman of Atlanta, GA, USA, one of the world's great players, passed
away on 29 June 2009.
Freeman was a Bermuda Bowl winner three times (1995, 2000, 2003) and runner
up twice (1997, 2005). He was a World Grand Master, placed 13th in the world
rankings at the time of his death.
Freeman became ACBL's youngest Life Master in 1952, at the age of 19. In his
long career, he won almost every major title in North America, including the
Vanderbilt, Spingold, Reisinger Teams, Blue Ribbon Pairs, etc. He served on
the ACBL Board of Governors 1976-80, and was a member of the ACBL Hall of Fame.
WBF President José Damiani and 1st Vice President Gianarrigo Rona expressed
their sadness for the great loss.
