There are cool festivals in Germany….however I only went to
festivals in France and Italy before (in fact a few). I think
for all the major ones especially for rock. They are all
pretty much the same, overloaded bands and stages, too many
kids and dickheads, very expensive foods and drinks. You
should just pick the city which have better personality and
more nice and friendly to the tourists, just incase if you
don't have a local to go with you.
PICK THE VIBES...NOT JUST WHICH FESTIVAL NAMES ARE MORE
FAMOUS OR WHICH FESTIVALS GOT MORE ACTS ON THE LINE-UPS
THAT'S VERY STUPID...
____________________________________________________________
I had locals accompanied me all the time when I was there (
and every time), so I didn't have any problem at all but
don't know about you. If you are going there along……. pick
better countries that take care of tourists than bigger or
more bands on the festival bill or more well-known festivals
that type of shit. If you go to see festivals all the time
like me, there is no way that you can see ALL THE BANDS, you
can only see a few in one day.
SOME PARTS OF EUROPE
____________________________________________________________
However if people are not nice to you over there because you
are not local, you may NOT WANT TO SEE ANY BANDS THAT DAY AT
ALL!! ….If you know what I mean my friend. If you are going
there with local which you will not have any problem at all (
like me). The reason was I saw it many times in these few
years, some of the European kids were pretty bad to Japanese
goers (especially those don't speak English well) in some
festivals (ONLY in major festivals, because more dickheads).
However, most of them who did that were all kids anyway.
WERCHTER GOERS
____________________________________________________________
In fact, you are not the very first person asked me about
this. I think SourSoul and background asked me last year. I
did tip them the same thing…..don't pick the country that
you want to go the most or festival names (that's the most
stupid thing). Pick the friendlier one to go, otherwise
sometimes you could waste a lot of money, but end it out not
even have a good time (some European kids in the festival are
not that nice you know). For SourSoul and co. I gave them a
few info before they went….. I think they ended up went to
Werchter and had a great time. :)
ROSKILDE FESTIVAL
____________________________________________________________
I went there a few times, I still think for the bigger size
one. Roskilde Festival is the best one out of all of them,
even better than Glastonbury (which I went there a few times
too). The MAIN reason is people are more friendly and more
real (more real is the most important factor)….people see
you as a person, not just as outsider etc…etc….not as many
dickheads like other big festivals over there. Also the event
is 100% non-profit event (which is none of them over there is
doing it like this, especially such big size one. Most of
them just get huge bands to get $$$$$$$), you could even go
to wash their toilets all day to exchange tickets (no shit…
my friend did that before). SUCH GREAT FESTIVAL INDEED!!!
BIG FESTIVALS
____________________________________________________________
Generally, I don't like big festivals at all, it's really
really really boring. However for this festival…..highly
recommend!!!.....mainly because the vibes and the people (
especially people). I will go back to there again….. anytime
I think. Also Lowland is not that bad too….Dutch festivals
are not that bad too….many kids smoking pots….which is
another great thing about it especially for night-time.
However mainly because people and the vibe, it's like
Roskilde…….. but it's in a more city kind of vibe, more
colorful I think.
SMALLER FESTIVALS ARE USUALLY BETTER THAN THOSE BIG ONES
____________________________________________________________
However the chances are rare….you really have to go to a few
smaller one (trust me big one is really really boring) on the
same way too. It will change your life for sure….for example
festivals like Crossing Border or Sonar festival etc..etc….
they were all great.
FESTIVAL GUIDE FOR 08
____________________________________________________________
I will send you the festival guide after March (if I got this
year's edition at that time). It will have all the line-ups
and everything about all festivals in Europe; this is for
industry workers like me (you need to pay to get it as a part
of union membership). However I will pass mine to you after
that time, I knew all of them anyway. I don't need it at all,
but you may need it.
PS: PM me or give me your e-mail sometimes after Feb. I will
pass the latest info for you about this year's festivals over
there. I think I lose last year's festival guide, if I find
it in my computer. I will quickly send it to you right away
to your e-mail.
Good luck…
