1. From Journalnews:
Chien-Ming Wang lost his arbitration hearing but will still earn $4 million
this season. Wang, who lives in a condo in New Jersey, was asked if he
planned to buy a house. "Maybe a small one," he said. "I still have to
pay taxes."

2. From Mlb.com :
Wang wins with a loss: Chien-Ming Wang was determined to look on the
bright side after losing his arbitration hearing on Friday. The Yankees
starter also made a pretty good point.
"It's not bad for me, because I'm still under contract," he said.
Even with the $600,000 difference between what Wang requested and what
the Yankees had to pay, it's still quite a deal. Wang now has a one-year,
$4 million deal, up from the $489,500 he earned last season.
Wang said the Yankees gave him a few reasons for the arbitration numbers,
such as his 2007 playoff struggles and relatively low strikeout rate.
But the Taiwanese right-hander, who's compiled 38 wins over the past
two years with New York, won't take any drastic measures, saying, "I'm j
ust going to do what I know how to do."
"Chien-Ming Wang is used to getting back up," Girardi said. "He's been
through it. The arbitration case usually passes. It's part of the game,
and you learn that it's a business. Sometimes you have to go through this."

3. From Mlb.com's blog;
Girardi rebuffed the idea of Chien-Ming Wang struggling, either due to
his lost arbitration case or his 2007 ALDS: "I don't worry about him
bouncing back," he said. "Chien-Ming Wang is used to getting back up." ...

Wang on losing arbitration case
Chien-Ming Wang didn't seem too upset about losing his arbitration case.
Then again, it's almost impossible to read his emotions.
He said it's "not bad for me. I just focus on the season."
He did say he thought "a little bit" that he would win.
The team's argument for why he should get $4-million and not $4.6-million,
he said, focused on: "My ERA is too high. My strikeout rate's too low."
I guess leading the major leagues in wins the past two seasons didn't trump
that.

5. From NYPOST;
According to Chien-Ming Wang, he lost his arbitration hearing Friday
because of the Yankees' argument that his ERA is inflated and he doesn't
strike out more hitters.
"My ERA [3.70 last year] is too high and my strikeouts [104 in 1991/3 innings]
are too low," Wang said when asked why he was denied his salary arbitration
bid of $4.6 million. Instead, Wang will make $4 million this year after
a three-member arbitration panel ruled in the Yankees' favor.
Wang, who has won 19 games in each of the past two seasons, said he wasn't
surprised he lost. Nor is he about to abandon his signature sinking fastball
to hike his Ks.
"I am not going to do anything different with the way I pitch," Wang said.
"Everything is OK."
