Chien-Ming Wang flops again, but Joe Girardi keeps cool BY MARK FEINSAND DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Thursday, March 27th 2008, 4:00 AM CLEARWATER, Fla. - Chien-Ming Wang had his final tune-up before Opening Day, and while it wasn't pretty, his manager believed it was his finest outing of the spring. Wang allowed four runs, all in the second inning, on six hits and two walks in five innings against the Phillies, striking out two. Wang finished his spring with a 2-2 record and an 8.04 ERA, but Joe Girardi was pleased with what he saw from his ace. "I thought he had a decent spring," Girardi said. "I thought today was his best day, which is good." Wang didn't get much help from his fielders during his bad inning Wednesday. Robinson Cano dropped a ball before turning a double play and Alex Rodriguez booted another potential double play ball for his third error of the spring. "He had a ground ball double play we didn't turn and Alex got a bad hop on his ball," Girardi said. "He could have been out of the inning, but we gave them some extra outs. That's what happens." Pitching coach Dave Eiland told Wang that hitters were "too comfortable" against him in the four-run inning. He told him to throw more inside pitches to back them off the plate. Whatever he said worked as Wang threw three scoreless frames to close out his day. http://tinyurl.com/2qq9gg -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.109.23.119
