Pitching plans: The Yankees didn't really fire Ron Guidry as pitching coach
after last season. They just didn't renew his contract.
投球計畫：
洋基去年球季結束後，沒有真的開除Ron Guidry，只是沒有續約而已。
But Guidry nevertheless showed up at spring training as a guest instructor,
the same post he had before Joe Torre added him to his staff before the
2006 season.
但他還是以春訓客座教練的身份參加春訓，一份他在2006年擔任投手教練前
就在做的工作。
It was a bit awkward in Tampa as Guidry walked around with little to do
other than sip his coffee. Meanwhile, new pitching coach Dave Eiland was
busy changing the team's entire approach.
在坦帕時，Guidry沒有太多的工作要做，而新投教Eiland則是忙著改變全隊
投手的投球方式。
Under Eiland, every Yankees starter (except veteran Mike Mussina) will
throw twice in the bullpen between starts. The second session will be shorter
and focused on maintaining good mechanics.
在Eiland的帶領下，洋基的每位先發投手（除了穆西納外）將在兩次先發之間，
兩度進牛棚練投。第二次牛棚的份量會比較少，重點是在固定投球姿勢（機制）。
It's the same program the Yankees use in the minor leagues. Andy Pettitte
has been doing it for several years.
這是跟洋基小聯盟的一樣的訓練，而派提特則是持續好幾年這樣做了。
"I think it helps," rookie right-hander Ian Kennedy said. "You throw
35-40 pitches one day and maybe half that the next. It keeps you sharp."
洋基新秀投手甘乃迪說：「我想這樣有幫助，你一次投個35～40球，
下一次大概減個一半。這使你的球路犀利。」
Chien-Ming Wang was initially against changing his routine. But Eiland won
him over during spring training. Wang believes it has helped improve the
command he has of his secondary pitches.
王建民最初反對改變他的習慣。但是Eiland在春訓時贏得他的信任。
王現在相信（兩次牛棚）可以改進他次佳球種的控球能力。
Eiland also has stressed throwing strikes and getting ahead. That's
certainly nothing new. But Eiland has his point backed up by reams of
statistics that show his pitchers how much trouble certain counts give them.

"We're getting a lot of information now," said reliever Brian Bruney,
who was not a fan of the old regime. "Everything is right there for you
to see."

Eiland, 41, has been with the Yankees since 2003, when he was the pitching
coach for Single-A Staten Island. He moved to Double-A Trenton in 2005 and
Triple-A Scranton in 2007.
41歲的Eiland在2003年進入洋基小聯盟教練體系，該年他在短期一A Staten Island。
2005年時擔任2A Trenton的教練，2007年時擔任3A Scranton的教練。
"He's worked with all of the young guys in the organization," Hughes said.
"There's a degree of comfort working with Dave because he knows what we're
doing if something goes wrong. I'm glad he's here."
