VIERA, Fla. -- Nationals right-hander Chien-Ming Wang had another successful
bullpen session Monday.
According to pitching coach Steve McCatty, Wang was able to change his
mechanics and throw his breaking pitches without any pain in his shoulder.
It helped that Wang lowered his arm angle and didn't turn his head while
throwing a pitch.
"We got him in a little athletic position, we could see it and he did a nice
job," McCatty said. "His breaking balls are getting better and better. I'm
happy with what he is doing. I think he feels pretty good, too. That's the
big thing."
Wang is trying to make a comeback after missing more than a year because of
shoulder problems. Wang said he most likely will not pitch in a Major League
game until late April or May.
Once Wang has fully recovered, the Nas are hoping he can be the pitcher that
won a combined 38 games for the Yankees in 2006 and '07.
Wang most likely will throw batting practice Wednesday.
