Wang has his best throwing session of spring

VIERA, Fla. -- Nationals right-hander Chien-Ming Wang threw live batting
practice without any pain in his right shoulder on Saturday, and it was his
best session this spring. He threw the ball harder than he has been recently,
and was able to break the bat of second baseman Danny Espinosa.
王建民星期六投完打擊練習後，沒有感覺任何不適，而且這次的表現是春訓以

Wang was able to throw his fastball, slider and curveball for strikes, but,
according to Wang, he still needs to work on his changeup.

Wang's next big step is to throw in an intrasquad Minor League game, which
will take place on Friday at the team's Minor League complex. He is scheduled
to throw an inning or two.

"I felt very good. Everything was smooth. Each time gets better and better,"
Wang said. "I'm very happy [I'll be pitching Friday]."

More than a week ago, Wang said he most likely would be ready to pitch in a
Major League game in late April or sometime in May. However, Wang changed his
tune on Friday. He is now hoping to be on the Opening Day roster.

The Nationals were happy to hear that Wang is looking to start the season on
time.

trying to make this club,' rather than saying, 'I'll probably open the season
on the disabled list,'" manager Jim Riggleman said. "That tells us that he is
feeling better."

Said pitching coach Steve McCatty, "He is throwing the ball well. He will get

guessing, in his mind is, how does he feel? How was he feeling after throwing
in the bullpen and batting practice?

With Wang healthy, he most likely will compete with at least six pitchers
for the fifth spot in the rotation. The Nats are hoping Wang can be the
pitcher who won a combined 38 games for the Yankees in 2006 and '07.
