大概在距今天一百年前，1903年的世界大賽中，
紅襪隊（當時叫做朝聖者隊 Pilgrims）尚以一勝四敗落後給匹茲堡
（當時的賽制是九戰五勝的）。
本來球團有雇一組樂團來演奏唱歌以鼓舞士氣，但是搞到後來卻沒有錢再付給他們，
於是一群由非常激動、非常熱情的愛爾蘭裔移民組成的死忠紅襪隊加油團體
「The Royal Rooters」就開始在看台上唱起當時的百老匯名曲Tessie，
這首簡單又曲調輕快的華爾茲舞曲真的是非常的受歡迎，
當時所有的球迷都一起加入合唱，
結果接下來每場比賽，大家都會固定地一同高唱Tessie，
於是波士頓在Tessie的助陣之下，奇蹟似地演出四連勝，奪得了當年的世界冠軍！
之後直到The Rooters於1918年解散前，紅襪隊一共贏得了6次聯盟冠軍與5次世界冠軍...
今年，來自波士頓的死忠搖滾樂團Dropkick Murphys推出了全新版本的Tessie單曲，
或許也是希望能藉由這首歌神奇的魔力帶領紅襪隊奪下冠軍吧？（網路文章，出處不詳）
