1.    croup
      infection of the vocal cords
      worse at night
      barking-seal cough
      hoarseness
      stridor (inspiration)
      steeple sign
      run a cool mist humidifier


2.      氣喘
      three major factors: inflammation  bronchospasm  hyperreactivity

      藥物:beta2-agonists   corticosteroid    anticholinergics
              使用MDI要接spacer device，使用完要漱口(預防鵝口瘡)

      peak flow:
           綠燈:正常  通氣量80-100%
           黃燈:差    通氣量50-80%
           紅燈:危險  立刻給予支氣管擴張劑

      運動:
        減少快速換氣的運動:跑步 打籃球
        可做間歇性運動:游泳  走路  棒球

      呼出氣流： peak expiratory flow rate



3.      sudden infant death syndrome
      最常發生在1歲以下
      春天 冬天最常發生
      第一個症狀:跳停止
      仰躺(勿趴睡)
      護理措施：emotion support



4.      suction的重點
      早產兒  40-60mmHg       6Fr.
      嬰兒    60-100 mmHg      8Fr.
      兒童    80-120 mmHg     10Fr.

      前:100%O2
      中:5-8秒(抽痰時間)
      後:30-60秒(間隔時間)




5.      中耳炎的照護
      Importance of giving medications for length of time prescribed
      Call physician if no improvement in 48 hours
        or if drainage is noted from ear
      Smoking and its effect in otitis media
      Proper position during bottle feeding
      Parent and child education concerning preoperative
        and postoperative tube replacement
