Safarova左大腿不適，為了接下來的硬地賽季著想，不得不退出比賽。
"I'm quite sad because I felt I was playing well, and I wanted to win in
Prague," Safarova said. "Now I have to take two weeks off and see if I'll be
able to play in San Diego."
因此前四種子有三人退賽 ^^||
"In the first set I didn't really know how to play. She gets a lot of balls
back," said Zahlavova Strycova, who had failed to get past the round of 16
here in four previous appearances. "In the second set I was more patient and
it went better. It will be better to play Larsson in the quarterfinals rather
than Safarova, but I don't want to underestimate her, and I will still have
to work very hard to win."
