Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony was named the Western Conference Player of
the Month for April, the NBA announced today.
Anthony helped lead the Nuggets to a 10-1 record for the month, including a
6-1 record on the road, which is the best road record for a single month in
team history.
During April Anthony averaged 28.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 3.5 apg while helping the
Nuggets secure the sixth seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. This marks
the fourth-consecutive season that Denver has advanced to the postseason,
joining San Antonio and Dallas as the only teams in the Western Conference to
do so.
This is the second time in Anthony’s career that he has garnered this award,
as he was also named Player of the Month in March of 2006. He is one of three
players in Nuggets history to have been honored as Player of the Month, with
Alex English (twice) and Fat Lever (once) being the others.
Anthony and the Nuggets will open their first round playoff series with the
San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, April 22 at the AT&T Center at 5:00 MDT.
