好像每年都有mid-infielders的問題,究竟啥時這兩個位置能有個解呢??
讓我們繼續看下去........
ps.如果是Kozma,希望他皮可以繃緊點,別再出現低級失誤,又不是游擊霸...

The St. Louis Cardinals are in a tough spot as it looks like shortstop Rafael
Furcal might be done for the season.
The team announced Sunday that Furcal has been completely shut down after
discomfort in his throwing elbow has worsened. He was expected to make his
debut in the field this weekend, only batting as a designated hitter
previously this spring training. But the pain attributed to bone spurs that
kept him from throwing at full force since the start of camp has worsened.
Now the ligament that kept Furcal from helping the Cardinals down the stretch
and in the playoffs last year has flared up and it seems surgery might be in
order.
General manager John Mozeliak passed on off-season opportunities to upgrade
at short, presumably out of fear that Furcal would rebound and the team would
have a log jam at the position. Now he's in a tough spot as teams with depth
at shortstop will try to hold a team with a boatload of prospects up for a
huge ransom.
Potentially available are Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki,
Cleveland Indians infielder Asdrubal Cabrera and Texas Rangers shortstop
Elvis Andrus.
Tulowitzki is the most expensive option with $144 million left on a contract
that runs through 2020. While the Rockies are reported to be seeking payroll
relief, they want top prospects back in return for Tulowitzki, specifically
pitching.
Cabrera is a .279 career hitter with 41 homers over the past two seasons.
He's under contract for $6.5 million for 2013 and $10 million in 2014 after
which he'll be a free agent. Cabrera was criticized for gaining weight over
the past couple of seasons. But he showed up for camp this year trim and
ready to go. While Cleveland is trying to make a playoff run this season with
the addition of a couple of medium tier free agents, he could probably be had
for a much more reasonable package than the other two players on this list.
The Rangers have insisted that they plan to keep both Andrus and their top
prospect Jurickson Profar, also a shortstop. But they're in a position to
trade for pitching help if their front office has a change of heart. Texas
could go another route. The team is rumored to be talking to former St. Louis
starter Kyle Lohse.
What do the Cardinals have to offer? Outfield prospect Oscar Taveras and
pitchers Trevor Rosenthal, Joe Kelly, Michael Wacha and Carlos Martinez ought
to strictly be on the untouchable list. It makes no sense to write off the
long term prospects of the team for a short term fix.
But the Redbirds might be willing to part with top pitching prospect Shelby
Miller thanks to the emergency of Wacha as a legitimate, close to being ready
prospect. Miller probably doesn't have a spot on the St. Louis roster out of
spring training as Kelly seems to be put in a position on the pitching
schedule to have the inside track to be the fifth starter. Rosenthal seems
tabbed for the bullpen. Meanwhile slugging first baseman Matt Adams is having
a great spring. But he doesn't seem to have a starting spot available in St.
Louis this year -- unless Carlos Beltran or Allen Craig are injured.
Another guy who might hold appeal to other teams is infielder Matt Carpenter.
He's got good gap power and exceeds at getting on base at a high clip.
Carpenter seems like he might be an especially good fit for the Rockies where
the huge outfield opens wide the gaps between the fielders. The Cardinals
fielded several calls about him at the trade deadline last year and over the
winter.
The Cardinals might choose to hang on to their prospects and try to make a go
of things with young players they have in house. But if the team had a lot of
faith in Pete Kozma, who was called up from the minors last year to fill in
for Furcal, it didn't show it when the Redbirds opted to sign former Cubs
infielder Ronny Cedeno as an insurance policy at shortstop. Cedeno hasn't
looked great so far in spring training. So St. Louis stands to use a rotation
of players to fill the most important defensive position on the field if a
swap can't be made.
