ing as much after his team advanced to the NBA Finals. Teams must think the
Cavs are going to stand pat on last year's squad. That's anything but the tr
uth. "We are exploring all of our options out there," Ferry said."Whether it
's a trade or free agency, we're very active on the phones every day."

    Even though nothing has been accomplished this summer, it's not for a la
ck of trying. Sources said the Cavs made a pitch for ex-Timberwolves forward
/center Kevin Garnett, who was traded to Boston for five players, two first-
round picks and cash considerations earlier in the week. The Cavs didn't hav
e a piece like emerging star power forward Al Jefferson to dangle in trade t
alks, and they didn't have a bloated expiring contract like the Celtics had
to offer in Theo Ratliff. Dallas, Chicago and the Los Angeles Lakers were al
so involved in talks, even though a source said there wasn't a close second
in the deal.

exception. There's a possibility the only things the Cavs do this summer is
re-sign free agents Anderson Varejao and Sasha Pavlovic. Even though they wa
nt both players to return, there are no guarantees they'll be back in the fo
ld.

    Varejao's case could drag on into the fall. Nothing could be done until
September, if agent Dan Fegan's track record follows its normal course. Var
ejao wanted to play for Team Brazil in the FIBA Americas Championship in La
s Vegas this summer, but as of right now, he's not going to play.

    Ferry wouldn't comment on specific players. Sources say the Cavs have e
xplored a sign-and-trade deal with Warriors free agent Michael Pietrus. Pav
lovic could be involved in that scenario.

etrus，Sasha也可能涉入交易當中。

    However, Larry Hughes is expected to remain in the starting lineup at t
he point, where he's played his best basketball since signing with the Cavs
. His plantar fascia is almost completely healed, and he's back on the cour
t playing in St. Louis.

Notes

    Cavs forward LeBron James' comments at Team USA's training camp last we
ek rubbed a few people the wrong way. He commented on how great it would be
to play with a point guard such as the Nets' Jason Kidd. If he would have s
topped there, everything would have been fine. But James went on to say it
would be difficult to go back and play with the point guards in Cleveland.
Sources say neither Portland nor Seattle have made any of their point guard
s available in trade talks. Jarrett Jack is scheduled to be the Trail Blaze
rs' starter.

1.在美國隊集訓中的James的發言有點狠：他提到跟接生Kidd這樣的名後衛一起打球是
多麼爽快。如果只講這些就沒事了，但接著James說回去跟騎士的控衛一起打球可麻煩
多了……

2.消息指出超音速跟拓荒者都不會把任何一個PG拿來當交易籌碼，其中Jarret Jack會
是拓隊的開季先發PG。
