Marbury hopes to return to Celtics

Frank Dell'Apa and Marc J. Spears of The Boston Globe are reporting that
soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Stephon Marbury is excited about the
possibility of making a title run again next season in Boston. In fact, he's
already started stretching.


Celtics coach Doc Rivers has said he hopes Marbury will be back.
"I'm not trying to get a bunch of money," Marbury said. "I know Boston doesn’t
have a bunch of money. I'm not seeking out teams with more money. I want to
play for a championship-contending team. I can't play for a young team that's
not in a position to compete for a championship.
"I want to play in Boston. I'm not going to say that I don't. But I know the
way that business works. If I don't come back it won’t be because of me."


At last check, more than 85% of CelticsBlog.com's readers would welcome him
back.
And while we're on the topic of re-signing, Steph recently mentioned that he
plans to stick with the NBA Players Association as his representation when
free agency begins rather than hire an agent.
"The best thing about the NBAPA is that they work for you for free," said
Marbury via e-mail, who signed with the Celtics for $1.3 million for the
remainder of the '08-09 season and did not have to pay the NBAPA commission.
"When you have a team that negotiates the Collective Bargaining Agreement for
all the players representing you, there is strength in numbers."
