Discuss COMMENTS (3) All Rivers did was hear it. “The fans probably couldn’t hear it, but I heard a pretty big thump, and I didn’t realize that it was his head,’’ Rivers said. Trying to deny Vince Carter an easy path to the lane with a little more than a minute to go, Garnett jumped to contest the shot. Carter kicked the ball to the corner for a Rashard Lewis 3, while Garnett was hung in the air with teammate Tony Allen underneath him. Garnett tried to brace himself but came down hard and loud . “I’m OK,’’ Garnett said after the game. “I’ve had harder falls. I’m just glad we won, to be honest. I’m sure I’ll feel it in the morning. But for now, I’m all right.’’ Rasheed Wallace called a timeout with Garnett in pain. Garnett was down for a few seconds, but walked to the bench on his own. He didn’t, however, come back after the timeout, though he said he could have. “Adrenaline’s going,’’ Garnett said. “You’re still going. You’re still able to move. I think it was only, what, two minutes, a minute and something, so I figured that I can suck it up for a minute and 50, two minutes or so and finish it out. It was a hard hit. Just tried to pop up and finish the game.’ ’ Garnett scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds, imposing himself largely on the defensive end in 33 minutes. Having had to deal with health questions all season, Garnett said. “Put it on the list.’’ Pierce resting Rivers said Paul Pierce (knee) wanted to join the Celtics on this road trip, which continues against the Los Angeles Clippers tomorrow. “He’s healing faster than we thought,’’ Rivers said. “That’s a great thing. Having said that, we’re still not sure he’ll play quicker than the two weeks. I know you’ve got to be careful and you know we’re going to be careful. If it was up to Paul, I know he wanted to fly out [today] and that’ s just not going to happen, I can guarantee you that. My instructions to medical, if he’s 100 percent and feeling great, then we’ll consider it. Other than that, two days ago he wasn’t feeling great and he was in the hospital. I just can’t imagine him playing that quick. “Unless the doctors clear him, we’re not going to play him Allen starts In his first start since last season, Allen had 16 points in 21:39, and also defended against Carter. Discuss COMMENTS (3) “Just wanting to be aggressive, no Paul - I hope he gets back soon,’’ Allen said. “I took that as a challenge. I’m still taking it one day at a time and I’m building. I think I used [yesterday] to get better. Actually, I kind of like starting. I just wanted to do what I can to help. “And, basically, just sticking to our defensive schemes, listening to [associate head] coach Tom Thibodeau and just executed offensively. Doc said it was going to be based on us getting stops and not reacting to the crowd. We ’re a defensive team, first and foremost, and I think we did a good job going over our coverage.’’ Said Rivers: “Having Paul and Marquis [Daniels] out is the problem. No. 1, you don’t want to have Paul out, ever. He’s your best scorer, your best facilitator. Having Marquis out, as well, that’s probably the more difficult part of this, not just for this game, for this whole trip. We don’t have a ‘ 3,’ really. We have all ‘2s,’ and [Brian Scalabrine] we’ll use at the ‘3 ’ and Ray at the ‘3,’ and go small, put Eddie [House] at the ‘2.’ When you lose those two guys you’re almost at the other guys’ call. Before, we could dictate matchups. Now, that’s pretty much taken away at the guard spots.’’ Davis returns Glen Davis was activated for the first time since breaking his hand on the eve of the season opener. Davis grabbed three rebounds in 3:47. “I didn’t feel nervous, I didn’t feel winded, I felt relaxed and calm,’’ Davis said. “There was a moment when I hesitated because of my hand. The more I played the more I realized, just play and don’t worry about the hand. Was I surprised? Yes, I was surprised - I didn’t think I was going to get in. I figured it had to be a worse-case scenario that I would get in the game. ’’ Rivers said of Davis before the game: “I’m pretty positive I will not play him. We either have to be playing very well and up or very poorly and I can give him some minutes. I just don’t want to use him. That doesn’t mean we won’t - if foul trouble or something like that happens. He’s had one practice since training camp and that was an hour, a short practice [Thursday]. “He forgot half the plays, and that’s natural. We have put in new stuff. I want him to get off to a great start. I don’t want him coming in and struggling and then putting more pressure on himself, so if I can keep him out of that situation, I’m probably going to do it Shape up Bill Walker, who underwent knee surgery during preseason training camp, rejoined the Celtics for this road trip after playing for Maine in the NBA Development League. “I got an opportunity go down and to really get in shape, ’’ Walker said. “So, it was beneficial from that standpoint. I hadn’t played since training camp . . . You can run on treadmills all you want, but once you get out there and start going by people, defending people, you really get in shape. And I was able to get that during my time in Maine.’’ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 114.137.250.4
