BOSTON -- Boston Celtics center Jermaine O'Neal, who had hoped to return to the
active roster as early as Wednesday night, missed his 19th consecutive game,
this time due to what coach Doc Rivers called an illness.

上一場對76人的比賽，未能上場的小歐先生並非因為因為膝傷使然，而是流感中標了。

But Rivers said O'Neal is battling flu-like symptoms and instead will eye
Saturday's nationally televised Christmas showdown with the Orlando Magic for
his return.

"I think he'll play next game, hopefully," Rivers said. "He's just not feeling
well -- the flu. I think he would have played tonight [if not for the
illness]... He just needs to get minutes. He's ready. I don't know how much
we'll play him even when he comes back, but he'll be in uniform -- hopefully on
Christmas."

河流認為如果不是因為流感的話，小歐先生在對76人該場比賽應該可以上場。

Ray Allen likes playing on Christmas

“I always felt like it was a privilege,” Allen said Wednesday night before
the Celtics played the 76ers. “You come into the league and you see the team
playing on Christmas, it’s always the upper echelon teams in this league. You
feel like you made it. It’s a similar feeling with playoff basketball. People
at home are watching and you want to be one of those teams playing.”

Allen said that one of the highlights of his Christmas was watching Michael
Jordan play. He also acknowledged that players aren’t the only ones who have
to do their jobs.

Rivers: Rondo 'moving a lot better'

The Celtics don't expect Rajon Rondo to be active when they play Orlando on
Christmas, and there is still no definitive timetable for his return from an
ankle injury that had him in a boot and on crutches for a few days, but they
are encouraged by his recovery. Rondo was at the team's practice on Tuesday,
without the boot, and was dribbling a basketball on the side of the court. "I
know he’s walking and running pretty well and moving a lot better," Doc Rivers
said. "So I know he’s getting pretty close."

Perkins returns for non-contact practice

For the first time since undergoing knee surgery in the offseason, Kendrick
Perkins was able to participate in part of a Celtics practice. Perkins went
through the non-contact phase of practice and the team's warmup stretching
routine. "I felt all right," Perkins said. "My timing was a little bit off. I
thought I did pretty well for my first time out."

Perkins said that he had an MRI last week, which showed nothing negative and is
scheduled to have another one in early January. The plan is for him to continue
going through the non-contact part of practice for a few weeks and then see
where he is physically. "I feel good," Perkins said. "I haven’t had any
setbacks. Really I’m just trying to keep moving forward. I’m actually
surprised about how good I did out there today."
