O'Neal Considering Season-Ending Surgery

Jermaine O’Neal is considering a number of options regarding his injured
left wrist and season-ending surgery is one of them.

O’Neal, who hasn’t played since Feb. 20 in Dallas, could have a cortisone
shot and try to play through the injury or have surgery that would likely end
his season. There has also been talk of a more minor surgery that might allow
the big man to return in about a month.

Doc Rivers said Friday night that O’Neal might be able to play through the
injury, something other players have done in the past, but O’Neal claimed
that forgoing surgery might jeopardize the health of his wrist for the rest
of his life.

There is no timetable for O’Neal to make a decision and he is expected to
consult a few more doctors about the injury before doing so.
